What Is DAF Equipment

DAF equipment is a water treatment system that separates suspended solids from water by attaching them to microbubbles, which rise to the water surface. In some cases, surfactants in the water attach to bubbles and float, enabling separation—this method is referred to as foam flotation. The equipment used in flotation includes the flotation tank, where separation takes place, and auxiliary components that generate air bubbles.

In water treatment applications, flotation is particularly useful in cases where sedimentation is ineffective, especially for separating suspended solids that have a specific gravity close to water and are difficult to settle—such as oils, fibers, and algae. It is also suitable for thickening activated sludge.

Key Features:

  1. Compact structure, requiring minimal footprint

  2. Fine and uniform microbubbles for efficient flotation

  3. Superior performance, providing stable and reliable treatment results

  4. Easy installation and user-friendly operation

  5. Produces high-concentration scum with low sludge volume, which is easy to dewater

  6. Excellent effluent quality, low investment, and quick results

  7. Advanced technology, rational design, and low operational cost

Compared to other solid-liquid separation systems, DAF units offer advantages such as lower capital cost, smaller space requirements, higher automation, and easier operation and maintenance. In practical applications, the selection and design of flotation systems should be tailored to the characteristics of the wastewater treatment process, including water quality and flow rate.
