What is the Horizontal Decanter Centrifuge Process

Feeding: The material is pumped into the oil sludge conditioning tank using a vacuum or screw pump. It is heated to 60-80°C using steam and stirred evenly by an agitator. The conditioning time is approximately 20-30 minutes.

Oil Removal: The material is pumped into the special oil-removal decanter centrifuge via a screw pump. This machine removes more than 90% of the crude oil in one pass, and the separated oil meets the required standards for export.

Cleaning: The sludge-water mixture is further heated to 70-80°C in the conditioning skid, where chemical agents can optionally be added to clean the material.

Three-Phase Separation: Flocculants are added online to the sludge-water mixture, which is then pumped into the three-phase decanter centrifuge. This process separates oil, water, and sludge. The separated crude oil is minimal and is stored in a buffer tank for use as coking feedstock, or it can be reused (the small volume has little impact). The dewatered sludge cake is sent for further treatment, and the separated water enters the wastewater treatment unit for deep processing.

Water Treatment: The water separated by the three-phase centrifuge may contain oil and suspended solids (SS) above acceptable levels, especially from the desalting process, where oil content can be significantly higher. This poses challenges for downstream water treatment systems. The Monia water treatment technology can reduce oil content to below 100 ppm and SS content to below 100 ppm. In most cases, both indicators are reduced to below 20 ppm, providing excellent results.
