How to Operate a Filter Press
Operation and Precautions for Mechanical Filter Press in Wastewater Treatment
-
Pressing the Filter Plates
-
Connect the power supply and start the motor to press the filter plates tightly.
-
Before pressing, check that the number of plates meets the required specification, that no foreign objects are stuck on the sealing surfaces, and that the filter cloth is laid flat without folds.
-
-
Maintaining Pressure
-
The mechanical pressing should reach the designed pressure of the filter press.
-
-
Feeding and Filtration
-
Once the filter plates are fully pressed and the machine is in pressure-holding state, check all valves and pipelines to ensure correct positions.
-
Start the feed pump. The slurry enters each filter chamber through the feed port on the thrust plate and is filtered under the set pressure, gradually forming a filter cake.
-
During feeding, closely observe both filtrate flow and feed pressure.
-
Ensure the feed pump has a normal water level and that the feeding process is continuous. Interruption may cause feed ports to clog, leading to pressure differences that could damage the plates.
-
When the filtrate flow slows significantly and the filter cake pressure exceeds 5 bar, stop the feed pump.
-
-
Releasing Plates and Discharging Filter Cake
-
Connect the power supply, start the motor, release the pressing plate, and discharge the filter cake.
-
-
Cleaning and Maintaining the Filter Cloth
-
Regularly clean the filter cloth. During cleaning, carefully check for any damage to the cloth and ensure the feed and outlet ports are not blocked.
-
Before each feeding cycle, inspect the feed inlet thoroughly to avoid pressure differences that may damage the plates.
-
Additional Notes:
-
Monitor feed pump water level and oil level at all times.
-
Check the gearbox oil level of the filter press regularly.
