How to Operate a Plate and Frame Filter Press III
Operating Instructions for Filter Press
-
Filter Plate Quantity and Operating Limits

The number of filter plates installed on the filter press must not be less than the quantity specified on the nameplate. The clamping pressure, feeding pressure, squeezing pressure, and feed temperature must not exceed the ranges specified in the operation manual.
Damaged filter cloths should be replaced promptly. Hydraulic oil should generally be replaced every six months under normal conditions. In dusty environments, it should be replaced and the hydraulic components (such as the cylinder and oil tank) cleaned every 1–3 months. -
Lubrication and Mechanical Operation
For mechanical filter presses, lubricate the screw rods, nuts, bearings, bearing housings, pulleys, and other moving parts 2–3 times per shift with liquid lubricating oil.
The use of dry calcium-based grease on the screw rods is strictly prohibited.
Do not attempt to re-engage the pressing action when the press is already in the clamped position, and do not arbitrarily adjust the current relay parameters. -
Safety Precautions for Hydraulic Filter Presses
During operation, personnel must not stay or pass behind the hydraulic cylinder. When clamping or releasing pressure, an operator must be present to supervise the process.
Hydraulic components must not be adjusted arbitrarily to prevent pressure loss of control, which could damage the equipment or cause injury. -
Filter Plate Alignment and Cleanliness
The sealing surfaces of the filter plates must be clean and free from wrinkles. The plates must be vertically aligned with the main beam and neatly arranged.
If any plates are misaligned or uneven, do not initiate the clamping operation.
During plate pulling and cake discharge, never insert your head or limbs between the plates. Ensure that all air within the hydraulic cylinder is completely vented. -
Feed Port and Filter Cloth Maintenance
All feed inlets of the filter plates must be kept clean to prevent blockage and potential plate damage. The filter cloths should be cleaned regularly and replaced when necessary. -
Electrical Safety
The control cabinet must be kept dry, and no electrical components should be washed with water.
The filter press must be properly grounded to prevent short circuits or electrical leakage.
