What Is the Working Principle of Mechanical Bar Screen
1. Operation Process of Mechanical Bar Screen
-
Inflow Stage: Wastewater enters the cylindrical rotary drum from the front (axially).
-
Filtration Stage: Water flows out through the screen slots or mesh on the drum surface, while suspended solids (screenings) are retained on the inner surface of the drum.
-
Debris Removal Stage: The drum slowly rotates (typically at a speed of 3–8 rpm) driven by a motor. As the retained screenings rise to the top of the drum, they are flushed into a spiral conveyance trough by a high-pressure water spray system (pressure: 120–150 bar).
-
Dewatering and Discharge: The spiral conveyor presses and dewaters the screenings, then transports them to a sludge collection hopper or external container for final disposal.
2. Core Drive Mechanism
Driven by a cycloidal pinwheel reducer or variable frequency motor, the system ensures low-speed, high-torque operation to accommodate fluctuations in wastewater load.
